What We Offer

Three ways to work with sisal, depending on whether you want something made for you, made by you, or made in quantity.

Custom Weaving Commissions

Commission a piece built to your exact specifications. We begin with a consultation to understand your needs — table dimensions, heat resistance requirements, weave density preferences, and aesthetic tone. From there, we select an appropriate fiber batch, prepare the warp and weft, and weave the piece on a floor loom. Custom work is priced by dimension, complexity, and finishing requirements. Lead times range from two to six weeks depending on the current queue and fiber availability. Residential dining sets, commercial tableware for restaurants, and one-off statement pieces are all within scope.

Ready-Made and Repair

Browse the current collection of placemats, coasters, and trivets available for immediate purchase. Each item is woven from fiber processed on-site, finished without chemical sealants, and inspected before shipping. Stock rotates seasonally based on fiber harvests. We also offer repair services for handwoven sisal pieces that have frayed, warped, or lost structural integrity over time. Repairs are assessed individually: some require edge rebinding, others need partial reweaving. We evaluate the damage, quote the work, and restore the piece using fiber matched as closely as possible to the original.

How It Works

From Inquiry to Finished Piece

Sisal fiber being prepared and sorted in craft workshop

Initial Consultation

We discuss your needs, review dimensions and weave options, and determine whether your project is feasible within your timeline and budget.

The consultation covers table measurements, intended use, aesthetic preferences, and any specific requirements such as heat resistance or commercial laundering. We also review fiber availability and current queue length so you have a realistic expectation of lead time and cost before committing.

Fiber Selection and Prep

We choose a fiber batch appropriate for your piece, then strip, dry, sort, and soften the strands before they reach the loom.

Fiber selection is based on thickness, color tone, and tensile strength. Each batch is processed through our three-step softening method to ensure pliability without compromising durability. Only fiber that passes manual inspection becomes warp or weft thread.

Weaving and Finishing

The piece is woven on a floor loom, edges are hand-bound, and the finished item is inspected for consistency before delivery.

Weaving is done by hand to accommodate natural fiber variation. Edges receive a continuous fiber bind that prevents unraveling without glue or synthetic thread. The finished piece is measured, photographed, and packed for shipping or studio pickup.

Common Questions

Lead times, care instructions, and how custom orders work.

How long does a custom order take?

Lead times range from two to six weeks depending on complexity, current queue, and fiber availability. We provide a specific estimate during the initial consultation so you can plan accordingly.

How do I care for handwoven sisal pieces?

Shake out debris regularly. Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid prolonged soaking or machine washing, as excessive moisture can weaken natural fiber bonds over time.

Can I request a specific weave pattern?

Yes. During the consultation we review pattern options including herringbone, plain weave, and open cross-weave. We can also adapt traditional basketry patterns for flat-woven applications.

Do you offer wholesale pricing?

Yes. Restaurants, lodges, and retail buyers can order in volume with consistent weave patterns and custom dimensions. Minimum order quantities apply, and pricing is structured for resale margins.
